Because the edge is raised, it reads as a proper bed rather than a towel on the floor, and most dogs work out quickly that it is theirs.

The part you will notice is the cleaning. A wet dog, a spilled water bowl, a walk that went through a field: wipe it, let it dry, and it is ready again.

An honest note about chewing

The outer fabric is made to resist scratching and tearing, and it copes well with digging and circling. But no fabric is chew-proof, and a determined chewer will get through this one. If your dog destroys beds, supervise them for the first few days and take the mat away if they start working at the seams.

The surface is water-resistant, not sealed. It handles spills and wet coats well, but a puddle left to sit for hours can find its way through the seams.

Is it chew-proof?
No, and we would be wary of anyone who says their bed is. It is made to resist scratching and tearing, not a dog who is set on chewing it.

Can I use it in the car?
